The allure of New Orleans has helped the cruise industry grow in New Orleans. The Port of New Orleans is one of the fastest growing cruise ports in the United States. In 1993, some 80,000 cruise passengers embarked or disembarked from a cruise ship in New Orleans. Today, that number is more than 700,000.
